MHF ASAP!
Train the Trainer
MHF was developed by the World Health Organisation (W.H.O) and the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC, USA) to help bridge the gap between mental health needs and the availability of services and resources in communities.
MHF ASAP! Is a population-based approach to improving the capacity to respond to mental health needs in the community. It is intended to create awareness, educate and increase interpersonal communication skills as well as problem-solving and goal-setting capabilities. The modules enhance knowledge about mental health challenges and other topics that influence the wellbeing, health and family life of our communities.
People with MHF training complement existing resources in a community by helping people who appear to have a mental health–related challenge or may be at risk of harm. This may be in your workplace, community setting or with your friends and family.
On successful completion of the 2 x day MHF ASAP! course, people can complete a further 2 X Day Train the Trainer certification which enables them to go on and train more MHFs in their organisations.
In order to progress and qualify as a MHF trainer, you must have a background in mental health or a qualification in Psychology or allied profession.
Previous trainer experience is desirable but not essential.
The course gives learners the knowledge and tools to understand deeply not only the MHF curriculum but the key components of the course and how to deliver the program effectively.
During the training participants will be given modules to deliver and activities to prepare. While there is no formal testing there will be peer and instructor feedback to support your journey as a trainer.
The instructors will also be available to support your first deliveries of MHF in your settings.
Delivered over 2 x full days or 4 x half days, available in-person and hybrid only.
We do not deliver the Train the Trainer fully online unless the delegates are already experienced in-person trainers given the nature of some of the topics included in the curriculum.
MHF is certified by the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC, USA). It is not a counseling certificate and does not qualify participants as such.
After certification, registration is made on the NBCC international database, that you are recognised as a regional trainer for MHF in the region, for life!
Certified trainers will then join the We CAN family of trainers and can provide MHF in the community & their organizations in association with WE CAN.
